Governor Corzine to step down after the Gubernatorial Primaries

Sources in contact with officials at the highest levels of the New Jersey Democratic Party have confirmed what the rest of us have come to realize here in New Jersey.

The fact is everyone including Governor Corzine's own Party knows he cannot win reelection as the Governor of New Jersey.

With mounting pressure which is being applied from the States labor unions as well as the County and State level branches of New Jersey's Democratic Party. Plans are underway to find a way for Governor Corzine to step down at some point after the gubernatorial primaries this year.

Beyond those facts everything is conjecture as the following questions come to mind….

Does this plan involve Senator Laugtenberg stepping down?

Or does the plan involve President Obama naming Governor Corzine to a position in his administration which may suddenly open up?

These facts are yet to be determined.

However the facts we do have are that this would not be a first for New Jersey as a very similar move was made when former Senator Robert Torrecelli stepped down in 2002.

According to Wikipedia…

"Late in the election season in 2002, the New Jersey Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Democratic Party could legally replace Torricelli's name on the ballot with that of former U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg[4], ironically a longtime Torricelli nemesis, with whom he had often publicly feuded. New Jersey Republicans had contested the Torricelli-Lautenberg swap on the grounds that the deadline for ballot changes had passed. Some claimed that Torricelli had only made his decision after local polls showed, for the first time, that the scandal had damaged Torricelli's re-election chances beyond repair[5]."

I am a firm believer that history repeats itself. So let's see if history does repeat itself with another Torricelli-Lautenberg Type Swap for the NJ governor's race in 2009.

Tax Day Tea Party 2009 At The Cranbury Inn

A large crowd of taxpayers from Cranbury and surrounding communities throughout New Jersey gathered tonight for the Tax Day Tea Party at the Cranbury Inn.

Two former Township Committee members Wayne Wittman and Art Hasselbach addressed the crowd at the Inn.

Mr. Wittman read aloud excerpts from the recently passed Omnibus Bill which highlighted our governments bloated spending policies and practices.

Former Council member Hasselbach raised concerns over the treatment of our veterans with regard to the new Department of Homeland Security report which came out this past week.

Perhaps the Tax Day Tea Party of 2009 is just the beginning of Americans waking up to smell the tea and realizing less is more when it comes to government and taxes here in our country. As it appears Tax Day 2009 was a success not only here in Cranbury, but all around our great country.

All in all it was a great non partisan gathering of concerned taxpayers who in the end all want smaller government and lower taxes.

Tax Day Quote #5 From President Reagan

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Tax Day Quote #4 From President Reagan

The federal government has taken too much tax money from the people, too much authority from the states, and too much liberty with the Constitution.

Tax Day Quote #3 From President Reagan

Our federal tax system is, in short, utterly impossible, utterly unjust and completely counterproductive, reeks with injustice and is fundamentally un-American... it has earned a rebellion and it's time we rebelled.

Ridiculous: 95% of Camden’s school budget comes from NJ State and Federal Aid

During a time when…

Local municipalities are struggling with their new school budgets due to rising costs and a reduction in state aid for our schools.

School boards are looking at tax increases for their local taxpayers.

Many school districts are reducing services and programs.

Plenty in our state are making sacrifices….

We have the City of Camden and its school board passing a $360 million dollar school budget for which 95% of is funded through state and federal tax dollars.

Of the $360 million dollars being spend on education the local tax liability for the tax payers of Camden is only $7.4 million dollars.

As we look closer at the numbers for Camden we see the following….

Camden's total school budget is $360 million dollars

Camden's school district enrollment is 11,500 students

The numbers are staggering and work out to over $31,000 being spent per student in Camden.

Even with these vast amounts of money being spent per student, Camden is ranked as one of the worst performing school districts not only in our state but in the country.

"27 of Camden's 32 public schools failed the latest No Child Left Behind report card and six face the most severe penalties under federal guidelines—with recent newspaper headlines, and you'll be challenged to find a city whose school district is in more disarray."

What may be the most ridiculous of all is the fact that Governor Corzine, Assembly Speaker Roberts and the rest of the Party in charge of Trenton think that smaller suburban school districts need to consolidate into large ones such as Camden.

I have to ask why that is.

Has Camden's example shown us doing so will produce any savings or benefits?

Further how is it fair to the suburban taxpayers of New Jersey that taxpayers in cities such as Camden essentially get a free ride?

Because when it comes to local tax rates the majority of suburban school districts pay for the majority if their school expenses through their local property taxes and receive minimal amounts of state aid in comparison to school districts such as Camden.

The bottom line is Camden's school district and the associated spending is ridiculous as are the plans of the Party in charge of Trenton when it comes to solving the states education spending problem through consolidation.

Because as always New Jersey does not have a revenue problem it has a spending problem and Camden is a prime example of the spending problem our state has.

Remember in November (NJ's Affordable Housing Mess)

The news has been less and less these days however the affordable housing mess has not gone away here in New Jersey. Towns are still faced with tremendous financial burdens due to the unfair and unfunded affordable housing mandates from Governor Corzine, Assembly Speaker Roberts and the rest of the Party in charge of Trenton.

COAH/Affordable Housing is one of the key issues the voters of New Jersey need to Remember in November. That is because November is when we the voters of New Jersey have a chance to remove not only Governor Corzine from office. We also have a chance to remove from office the others from the Party in charge of Trenton who sponsored the 2008 A-500 legislation which is and has been an attack against the taxpayers of New Jersey...

Here is the list of the members of our states legislature who crafted the A-500 legislation...

A- 500 Sponsored by:

Assemblyman JOSEPH J. ROBERTS, JR. District 5 (Camden and Gloucester)

Assemblywoman BONNIE WATSON COLEMAN District 15 (Mercer)

Assemblyman JERRY GREEN District 22 (Middlesex, Somerset and Union)

Assemblyman THOMAS P. GIBLIN District 34 (Essex and Passaic)

Assemblyman ALBERT COUTINHO District 29 (Essex and Union)

Assemblywoman MILA M. JASEY District 27 (Essex)

A- 500 Co-Sponsored by:

Assemblywomen Spencer, Cruz-Perez, Evans

Thanks to project vote smart we have the ability to Remember in November not only who sponsored the A-500 legislation, but who voted for the A-500 legislation as well as members of the Assembly like Assembly Women Linda Greenstein who felt Not Voting for this legislation was a good option for her legislative district which now as a result of its passing faces the cost of building thousands of affordable housing units.

In the end we all need to Remember in November that each member of the Assembly listed above is responsible for the affordable housing mess we have here in New Jersey which has been and is an attack against every taxpayer here in our state.

Bad News For NJ Taxpayers "Council on Local Mandates rules Against Mt Laurel"

It is being reported the Council on Local Mandates has ruled against Mt Laurels bid to undo the unfunded affordable housing mandates we have here in New Jersey.

In my opinion this is bad news for the fight against the unfunded affordable housing rules we have here in New Jersey.

The following is being reported about the ruling…

"N.J. panel quashes a bid against affordable homes

An independent New Jersey council handed a victory to affordable-housing advocates yesterday when it ended an attempt by Medford and Mount Laurel to throw out some of the state's latest, and toughest, low-income-housing laws."

The way I see it the fight continues against not only COAH, but the greater issue of the unfunded and poorly written affordable housing rules and regulations we have here in New Jersey.

As we look at this issue the bottom line is Governor Jon Corzine and the rest of the Party in charge of Trenton support these unfunded rules and regulations and Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Christie opposes them.

If we want to change these unfair and unjust rules then we must all vote for Chris Christie and any candidates which are running against any members of our states legislature who are part of the Party in charge of Trenton this November.

Even Big Bird Can Make The Cuts That Governor Corzine Can't

It was reported recently that even the Sesame Street Workshop the nonprofit producer of “Sesame Street” will be making staff cuts as a result of the current economic crisis which has been affecting our economy over the last many months.

The company reported recently they would be cutting 67 members of their 355 person staff. This cut represents close to a 20% reduction in head count for the Sesame Street Workshop and this type of cut is not much different from those seen by many companies in various industries over the last several months in an effort to stave off greater losses during these uncertain economic times.

Meanwhile here in New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine to this point has only suggested furloughs and higher taxes as his cure for New Jersey’s huge budget shortfalls and deficits.

Instead of what I believe needs to be a much needed across the board 20% cut in the budgets for all departments of New Jersey’s state government and possibly along with a possible 20% reduction in the states work force as a cure for our states financial crisis.

Because if we do not consider budget cuts of an enormous magnitude that can balance our states budget and that would also allow for the accelerated payment of New Jersey’s massive 30+ billion dollar debt load. Then we will never have a chance of returning New Jersey to financial stability and as an affordable place for everyone to live.

However unfortunately for us the taxpayers of New Jersey our Governor Jon Corzine is more concerned with pandering to state workers labor union as well as the teachers unions of New Jersey and is afraid to make the cuts which are needed as they will impact his pursuit of being reelected Governor of New Jersey.

Maybe if we are lucky our Governor Jon Corzine will take Big Birds lead and consider making the cuts which are needed in New Jersey instead pandering to unions and adding more of a tax burden for the taxpayers of New Jersey.

Of course we have a chance in November of this year to let Governor Corzine know exactly how we feel about his budget choices for the taxpayers of New Jersey.

Governor Corzine Wants to be your new BFF on Facebook

It is being reported today that Governor Jon Corzine will be leveraging his Facebook page so that residents of New Jersey can contribute…

"Constructive and realistic ideas on his $29.8 billion budget proposal"

I am trying to give our Governor the benefit of the doubt with regard to this effort however this really appears to be nothing more then another attempted at distracting the taxpayers of New Jersey from the real issue.

That issue is Governor Corzine and the rest of the Party in charge of Trenton is beholden to the state government workers union and teachers unions that in the end are really running our states Government.

So head on over to Facebook and let the Governor Corzine know your "constructive and realistic" ideas for his $29.8 billion dollar budget.
